The 3 Cohens sextet is a unique phenomenon not only on the Israeli jazz scene, but on the global jazz scene as well. The horn section consists of three siblings: two brothers and a sister. Yuval, the oldest brother, plays the soprano saxophone, Avishai plays the trumpet, and Anat, their sister, plays the tenor saxophone and the clarinet.
The 3 Cohens, all Berklee College of Music graduates, have been performing for years as bandleaders and sidemen in New York, Boston, Israel and internationally. They are finally bringing their individual sound musicianship together for a collective musical adventure.
Their original music received outstanding reviews at the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival - 2004, while playing in New York City in 2003, and during their tour in Poland - 2002. Their debut CD, "One", was released in 2004 and was recently featured in JAZZIZ Magazine - October 2004.
The 3 Cohens Sextet includes an outstanding rhythm section, that brings together Israel's top Jazz musicians: Amos Hoffman - guitar, Gilad Abro - bass, and Shay Zelman - drums. The combination of this wonderful, creative and swinging rhythm section and the unique familial voice of the horn section, results in unique and inspiring music with no boundaries.
